The Ride of Silence honored all of those cyclists killed on our roads. The Ride of Silence is a free annual event taking place in communities around the country to commemorate cyclists killed on public roads. The ride also promotes safety by raising awareness among motorists, the public, and decision makers of the dangers to cyclists. Most people killed and seriously injured are using bicycles as transportation.
This year Capital City Cyclists sponsored the Tallahassee Ride of Silence to honor the 74 people injured and 2 people killed in Leon County reported bicycle crashes in 2024. Also, Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba who tragically died in the April 17 shooting at FSU were commemorated.
The Tallahassee Ride of Silence departed from the FDOT parking lot across from Cascades Park and returned to the park. Certified ride leaders lead the slow rolling five-mile ride which followed designated bike routes where possible. The Tallahassee Police Department provided Bicycle Police to escort the riders.
