Howdy, All:

So, that's it for 2025 and I hope that some of you were mildly entertained by the somewhat protracted proceedings (...two months, Jeez...). Many thanks to all who participated because you made the events.

Well, we enjoyed yet another splendid North Fla Fall morning (despite a chilly start) with a 20+ degree temperature swing in two hours, full sun and no wind.  Six stalwarts came out swinging and turned in some remarkably similar times.  Good on ya', fellas!

Yeah, yeah.  To the highlights (results sheet is attached):
  • Randall, "The King", Smith again turned in the day's best time @ 16:19.  Not only is this a whopping one minute & three second improvement  over his last time but it's 27 seconds better than his initial run (this series), within 36 seconds of his fastest time and21 seconds better than...
  • ...Kyle "The Flash" Hansen's 16:30 performance.  Hey, let's cut Kyle a bunch of slack because he was on a gravel bike and was clearly not having fun given the air temp at his start.  (...say what you want about body fat, or lack thereof).  We'll just overlook the fact that Randall was able to better a rider that was only 44 years his junior.  Hmmmm.
  • Doug "The Terminator" Harrison still hit the right notes, put his front wheel on the finish line @ 16:54 and, out on the course, evaded Mr. Smith by  twenty-five seconds.  No small feat (feet?).
  • Mark, "Mr. No-Nonsense", O'Neill got back on top of the big gear and carved sixteen seconds from his last run with a solid 18:39.
  • David. "Mr. Dark Horse", Wolfe again showed outstanding form and positioned himself mid-pack with a 18:53.
  • George,"El Jefe", Cucchi threw some good punches too and tied with Mr. Wolfe @ 18:53.  Not bad!

Not to overstate, but I just can't thank Dave & Kevin enough for their generosity of time and resources.  Nor can I say too many times how much I appreciate Michele's technical support and webpage design.  Thank you all.

For the future:  two "Senior Games Prep" events, likely on Saturday 2/21 & 2/28.  Dunno when the Cycling portion of the 2026 Senior Games is scheduled because I can't find the date (...lack of search skills you know). I'm guessing it'll be around March 8, as in previous years.  More on that later.

Enjoy the good weather when you can.

Howdy, All:

What an incredible day!

We had a somewhat frigid start but then got a 20 degree temperature swing with full sun and no wind.  But what was most incredible was Michelle Crouse's thoughtfulness and hospitality:  she brought all the equipment and accoutrements to provide French-Pressed coffee and Hot Chocolate to all.  What a treat.  Good pull, I say.

So cutting through all my blather, here're the highlights (results sheet is attached):
  • Randall, "The King", Smith turned in the day's best time (...surprise!) @ 17:22.  Please note that he trimmed eight seconds from last week's time.  Good job, I say, in showing his commitment to make significant improvements in his form & fitness.  You go, Son.
  • George,"El Jefe", Cucchi was the best-of-the-rest on his inaugural run by posting a 18:12 time.  Now he has a target for "next time".
  • David. "Mr. Dark Horse", Wolfe came back out with a new, svelte silhouette and cranked out a 18:28 time.
  • Mark, "Mr. No-Nonsense", O'Neill brought up the "rear-of-the-middle-pack" with a 18:55 time and almost caught his "one-minute-man" (...rider who started a minute ahead).
  • Bill "Mr. Sometimes-the-nice-guys-finish-first” Newmyer gave it his all and crossed the line at an even 20:00.
Mr. Dana, "I'm still here, dammit" Stetson deserves special dispensation for braving the cold on a new-to-him TT bike.  Without complaint or whining, he worked through saddle/bar adjustments and likely unfamiliar shifters/brakes to still pedal over the line @ 27:12.

Once again, Dave & Kevin:  many thanks for your support and friendship....couldn't do it without you guys.

Okay, so the final event is on the 15th...maybe we'll have the same great sunshine/lack of wind and 55 degrees at the start.  Here's hoping.

October 18th RESULTS Play-by-Play

Many thanks for those who came out to enjoy what turned out to be a pretty special morning, weather-wise.   Gotta love North Florida in October, right?

So without further adieu, here're the highlights (results sheet is attached):

  • Jessie, "Mr. I'm here to ride, pal!", Dunietz turned in the day's best time @ 17:06; a scant 5 seconds away from his best time.  Good work.
  • Mark, "Mr. No-Nonsense", O'Neill knocked twenty-nine seconds from his prior time with a 17:42.  Somebody is getting with the program, huh?
  • Robby, "Data is my lifeblood" Nowell, made his debut with a most acceptable 17:37 and now has a target to shoot at it.

Mr. "I'm still here, dammit" Stetson and Randall "The King" Smith held their own today and showed their commitment to the discipline.  Gents, I tip my hat to you and your dedication!

As always, Dave & Kevin...couldn't do it without you guys, so thanks again for the support.

October 4th RESULTS Play-by-Play

Howdy, all:

Many, many thanks to everyone who is participating in this endeavor, both on & off the bike.
 Couldn't do it without you.

So eight driven athletes (well, some drove while others rode to the venue) braved the wind and turned in some respectable times.
Please see below for the hard detail.

The highlights as I see them are:

Joanna "The Energizer" Southerland
bettered her best previous time by 47 seconds with a 21:15

James "Commander" Kimbrell produced his 2nd best time in the series @ 21:40

Bill "Mr. Sometimes-the-nice-guys-finish-first” Newmyer
set his best time for all the 2025 events he's ridden by crossing the line @ 18:29

Then, a warm welcome to two first-timers:  Mark O'Neil & Mike Britt (...sorry guys, I'll think up childish nicknames for you soon.  I promise).  We hope to see them test their resolve at future events because they were impressive today.

Regarding the battle at the "top of the table" (...and who doesn't love a hyped-up, non-existent grudge match-up?), Doug "The Terminator" Harrison brilliantly overcame a flawed start (traffic issue) while Randall "The King" Smith and Kyle "The Flash" Hanson turned in solid performances in spite of the wind.
OK, so they may have a little work to do but this is a training series, right?

A huge shout-out to Mr. Dave Beck for his assistance.  Hope you guys liked the food.  I know I did.

Maybe we'll see more of you out there in two weeks?

“ Wait, no prizes ??
In addition to getting the opportunity to put on yer best game face, there will be free food and drink.
But even though there are no prizes (unless we get some massive participation to make it EPIC), there will be a ranking and classification format.
Hey, Most agree that the real fun is being able to match times to previous efforts, and to your fellow rider’s times. “

Results will be posted following each TT event.

Ranking & Classification Format

You are free to ride any or all of the four events. Your finish time in the first event you ride (either 10/4, 10/18 or 11/1) will “rank” you in one of these four brackets:

Minutes:Seconds

14:00 - 16:59

17:00 - 18:59

19:00 - 21:59

22:00+

• The course is open to motor traffic without law enforcement traffic control or volunteer traffic wardens. Just like any club ride, you’ll be responsible for your own safety. Please be alert and aware of what’s going on around you.

• You’ll get a “10K Start-Results Sheet” (starting order, finish times) by email before & after each event.

  • In each bracket, there’s a Female/Male "One Event Fastest Time" category and a Female/Male “Most-Improved Time” category.(…No “ageism” but classification by performance.)
  • Riding any event will qualify for "One Event Fastest Time", but to qualify for “Most-Improved Time”, you’re stuck riding all four.
  • “Most-Improved Time”, is the better of any of the other three finish times compared to your week 1 finish time.
  • Ebikes are welcome, but if you crave world domination, you’re out of luck. An Ebike will qualify you only in the “Most-Improved Time” category.
