The One-Day Ride options have been moved to Sunday March 10!!
Unfortunately the weather still looks pretty bad for Saturday for the Choose your own Adventure Ride on the Coastal Trail. So we have come up with a new plan to keep everyone safe, have an enjoyable ride, and still enjoy the trails.
New Plan - One day Ride is Moved to Sunday
Ride start times Sunday
8:00 at the Southwood parking lot near Subway
8:30 at the St Marks Capital Circle Trail Head
9:30 at the Wakulla Station Trailhead
11:00 at Medart Park
Each starting location will have snacks etc for riders and will serve as rest stops for riders who started earlier. There will also be snacks and a rest stop provided at the Oaks Motel under the pavilion by the pool. Marcia will be riding at the back and can provide assistance with flat tires and other small mechanical issues.
Two Day Ride
If you still want to ride Saturday and brave the weather you are on your own for the ride. We will meet you at your start location if you let us know you are riding and provide snacks. We will be at the Oaks Motel by 4:00 Saturday afternoon and can get together for a group dinner. You can get Continental Breakfast Sunday morning by stopping by room 12 at 7:00 am.
Call Marcia Meale at 850-321-9075 or Jane Fletcher at 850-294-1840 if you have questions or need help.
Ride notes - watch for the trail to cross Hwy 98 in Medart just before Rocky’s. This is a tricky turn because you can’t really see the trail on the other side of the road. Cross 98 at the crosswalk to Wakulla High School.
Here are links to ride with gps files for the ride. These two files cover all of the options. You may just not ride everything indicated. The entire ride is on the trail separated from traffic. However, the rides with gps files does not yet include the coastal trail once you get past Medart, and it picks up again after panacea. However, the trail is finished so we will be riding the trail not the road. When you get to panacea the trail becomes a sidewalk, at this point there is a shoulder on the road. People can make their own choice about whether to ride on the sidewalk or the road shoulder. In Panacea the sidewalk switches over to the other side of the road at the shopping center.
