The Ride of Silence is a free annual event taking place in communities around the country to commemorate cyclists killed and on public roads. The ride also promotes safety by raising awareness among motorists, the public, and decision makers of the dangers to cyclists. Most people killed and seriously injured are using bicycles as transportation.
This year Capital City Cyclists is sponsoring the Tallahassee Ride of Silence to honor the 74 people injured and 2 people killed in Leon County reported bicycle crashes in 2024. Also, Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba who tragically died in the April 17 shooting at FSU will be commemorated.
The Tallahassee Ride of Silence is planned for 6:30 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2025 departing from the FDOT parking lot across from Cascades Park and returning to the park. Certified ride leaders will lead the slow rolling five-mile ride which will follow designated bike routes where possible. The Tallahassee Police Department is being asked to assign Bicycle Police to the event. Riders are required to wear helmets and encouraged to wear bright yellow jerseys, shirts or vests.
